Experience the scent of Halloween with Demeter!

With fall and upcoming Halloween, fragrance helps create the atmosphere along with sight and taste. Whether nostalgic or sophisticated, for yourself or as a gift, Demeter has you covered! I was happy to be hosted to experience it.

Demeter carved a place for itself with whimsical scents and the Halloween candy fragrances will make you smile! Maybe get a few of the smaller sizes for your favorite Trick or Treaters.

Junior Mints – I detected the semi sweet chocolate and creamy, vanilla mint: not sharp. I detect a little hint of salt. In this size and with the label, it’s a Halloween treat for yourself! This is how they describe it: “A cool, crisp and sensual combination of peppermint, wild mint, cocoa bean, vanilla and dark chocolate.”

Tropical Dots are not like traditional Dots. It has a little bit of fruit, but not sweet or gourmand. It’s sophisticated but light: you could wear this for any occasion, including work. The label is very cute. This is what they say: “A refreshing and exotic, but Oh-So-Smooth blend of grapefruit, pineapple, passion fruit, mango and coconut.”

Tootsie Roll: I grew up realizing there was something not totally chocolatey about them, but now know they have caramel. In fact, I make my own ice cream topping that’s like this. The scent has a good candy hit. When I was growing up, my flashlight pumpkin “Blinko” was usually mostly filled with these. This is how they describe them: “A luscious and delectable combination of fudge, caramel, chocolate and vanilla that brings back childhood memories of simple and easy pleasures.”

Caramel bath and body oil has that brûlée scent of caramelized sugar, not the milky kind. There’s a hint of salt in there, too. This is what they say: “Demeter’s caramel perfectly captures the essence of the candy. It is deep, rich, sweet, syrupy and sensual. There are no clear origins for caramel, but the recipe has remained consistent and simple: sugar and corn syrup cooked to the proper consistency.”

I’ve never eaten nutmeg ice cream, but I can tell you that Nutmeg Ice Cream bath and body oil isn’t like eggnog. I pick up brown sugar and the spiciness of a lot of freshly grated nutmeg. This is what they say:

The Scent
Warm and fragrant, our pure Nutmeg is enveloped in fresh cream and garnished with a touch of sugar to remove any bitterness. Fragrant Nutmeg is the star here, balanced to be wearable.

The Inspiration
At Demeter, we’re interested in food trends, because taste and smell are so intertwined. This is our olfactory representation of food experiments with savory and spiced ice creams.

The Story
By Samuel Sullivan Cox

“How she felt when he kissed her-
like a tub of roses swimming in honey,
cologne, nutmeg and blackberries.”

Since my birthday is in August, we always celebrated my birthday on Halloween, when everyone was back in school. Fruit punch was always on the menu. Punch shower gel smells just like the red stuff in the can “doctored up” with fruit garnishes! It’s low lather and doesn’t have dyes. This is what they say about it: “This scent is full, fruity and sweet, with the potential for a real kick. The punch bowl is actually making a comeback! A universal and potent colonial drink, it came to the English colonies in America from the English colonies in India. The word is from the Hindustani panch, five, referring to the five ingredients then used in the drink, namely: tea, arrack, sugar, lemons, water. Punch became popular in New England just as it did in old England, in fact, wherever English-speaking sea rovers could tell of the new drink. In 1682 John Winthrop wrote of the sale of a punch bowl in Boston, and in 1686 John Dunton told of more than one noble bowl of punch in New England. Every buffet of people the upper crust in prosperous times soon had a punch bowl. Every dinner was prefaced by a bowl of punch passed from hand to hand, while the liquor was drunk from the bowl. Double and “thribble” bowls of punch were served in taverns; these held two and three quarts each. It came to us thru the Victorian period, and after a cliche’d life in 50’s, is roaring back! So, drink up!”

Sometimes, punch was mixed with gingerale. I would describe Gingerale shower gel as more my grandparents’ style than my dad’s style. Our house had a tight budget in the 1970s and my dad stocked us up with generic products, including gingerale that required a can opener and had black stenciled print on white labels. I kinda grew a taste for it! One time, I was sick and I requested generic apple juice. We actually had brand-name in the house for once, but that wouldn’t do. He splashed a good hit of water in it!

On the other hand, my grandparents did very professional consumer-type studies on a number of products. Along with toilet paper and yogurt, they tested out all the gingerales and picked out a fancy one. This was the one they bought forevermore, as long as the store had sugar-free. The shower gel is like that one: hot, pungent and not too sweet. This is what they say: “

Enjoy the dry, not-too-sweet freshness of Demeter’s Gingerale, any time, anywhere. Real bubbles up your nose. Yes, the real feeling of the bubbles. We worked on it for years before we released it to get it just right. How we do that will have to remain our secret. Try a whiff and you’ll understand.

Chocolate Covered Cherries have always been my favorite candy, but you’re not likely to get them trick or treating. Sometimes, my dad would bring home those little 4 candy boxes from the nice chocolate stores as a consolation. Chocolate Covered Cherries shower gel has that waxy chocolate fondant scent with tangy cherry gel and fruit. Good with any of the dessert Demeter scents! This is what they say about it:

Demeter’s Chocolate Covered Cherries captures the smooth, silky sensuousness of this mouth-watering treat in all its glory.

In 1629 the colonists coming to America brought about two dozen different varieties of cherries with them. It was the French, however, who had the brilliance to mix the cherry with Kirsch, a colorless liqueur that originated in Germany, made from distilled juice of black cherries and crushed cherry stones, and cover the entire ensemble in chocolate. Voila! the Griotte, or chocolate covered cherry, was born.

All you need is love. But a little chocolate now and then doesn’t hurt.

Pumpkin Spice Latte is available in their soy atmosphere candle. It definitely has that coffee kick, along with the pumpkin spice seasonal beloved scent, with creamy sweetness. Am I at work? I ask that, because I get all these Teams messages about how cuckoo everyone is for the pumpkin spice flavor. While your burning your candle, save money not buying from those chainy chain chains: buy some pumpkins spice seasoning mix and use your own good coffee. This is what they say about it: “A limited edition blend of coffee, cinnamon, nutmeg, pumpkin, and a dash of vanilla. A fragrance to keep you going and your mood, steady, through the Holidays.”

New Halloween scents: Dark Flowers is their collection of supernatural, spooky, spectacular scents that are unlike anything you have experienced in mainstream perfumery. These Dark Florals are beautiful, of course, but radical and truly unique in their approach to scent. These fragrances use materials not usually found in fragrance, and in combinations you will find nowhere else. Each is a statement in scent, with unique twists and turns that are different in character and approach from the Classic Demeter Fragrance Library. Because of the unknown ingredients and combos, I was way, way off in how I experienced and described the scents. Haunted Souls: I’d say this is good for guys. It has sweet woods, and a bright note, like citrus zest. This is how they describe it, though:

“Haunted Souls is an evocative fragrance that delves into the depths of emotions and memories, capturing the essence of souls that linger in the realm of the living. At its core, it intertwines a blend of dark and introspective notes, embodying a deep, melancholic symphony of Patchouli, Smoky Myrrh and Leather.

The fragrance opens with a touch of mystery, like wisps of ethereal mist of Bergamot, Saffron and Coco Blossom, rising from forgotten graves, setting the stage for an immersive olfactory experience. As it evolves, delicate whispers of Midnight Jasmine and Tuberose emerge, adding a sense of nostalgia and timeless elegance.

Haunted Souls encapsulates the essence of introspection and the haunting beauty found in the depths of the human spirit. It is a fragrance for those who embrace their emotions, exploring the shadows of their souls with grace and courage.”

Shadow Flower – It has a vine flower scent to me, like a mysterious jasmine, along with herbal notes, mysterious aldehydes. This is what they say about it: “

Shadow Flowers is an enigmatic and alluring fragrance that exudes a mysterious and haunting charm. At its core, it embraces a delicate yet intoxicating blend of elusive dark blooms, including Jasmine Sambac and fiery Tuberose Absolute, all shrouded in an air of darkness.

With Shadow Flowers, you’ll leave a hauntingly elegant impression, a trail of mesmerizing allure that lingers long after you’ve passed, inviting others to be drawn into your captivating world of shadows and blooms.”

Ominous Mist – Green notes like aloe, green tea, lime basil, mixed with frozen orange. This is what they say about it: “

Ominous Mist is an intriguing and evocative fragrance that transports you to a realm of mystery and intrigue. At its heart, it entwines a blend of dark notes with bursts of brightness, reminiscent of a dense mist cloaking a hidden forest on a moonless night. Within this enigmatic mist, whispers of Sandalwood, Cedar and a fantasy wood accord create a sense of eerie serenity.

The fragrance opens with a burst of Black Raspberry, Mandarin Orange and Blood Orange, capturing the essence of the mist as it embraces you in its ethereal embrace. As it evolves, hints of aromatic Jasmine and Orange Blossom add depth and complexity to the atmospheric blend.

Ominous Mist encapsulates the allure of the unknown, offering a captivating olfactory journey that dares you to explore and embrace the enigmatic. It is a fragrance for those who embrace their inner darkness, finding beauty in the mysterious and uncharted territories of life.”

Mystical Blooms – I got white lilac and fruits, a little cinnamon. It’s sweet and sparkling. This is what they say: “

Mystical Blooms is an enchanting fragrance with a core of Night Blooming Orchid and Crimson Dahlia, shrouded in a veil of elusive tobacco and musk notes. . Its top notes exude a hint of enigmatic spices, like Saffron, and unique fruity scents, like Bergamot and Fig Nectar, luring you into an ethereal journey.

As the scent develops, a sense of intrigue intensifies, drawing you deeper into its mysterious allure. Woods and musky undertones emerge, adding an aura of seductive secrecy. Like a moonlit garden under a starless sky, Mystical Blooms captivates with its enigmatic and haunting presence.

This fragrance is for those who embrace the unknown, seeking an olfactory adventure that transcends the boundaries of light and dark, revealing the magic that lies within the shadows. Mystical Blooms leaves an enigmatic trail, tempting others to unravel its secrets, but it remains an enigma, forever elusive and entrancing.”
