What’s brewing at Farmacy?

Butler, MD’s Farmacy Brewing is still making gourmet farm-to-glass beers in a bucolic setting in an even more glorious way! Now, when it first opened a few years ago, it had a fun and funky atmosphere like your folks’ rumpus room. Now, it’s expanded for lots of indoor seating, but still has a homespun vibe.

Now in the beautiful weather, there’s live music, people bring folding chairs to sit outside, as well as their own food. Sometimes, they have food trucks. It’s generally a mid-afternoon to early evening place. There are to-go cans. One thing that I was sorry to see go are the beer flights: they were a learning experience for me and a way to experiment with a flavor out of my comfort zone.

On site are fruit gardens and a equine veterinary practice.

Here is what was on tap when I was there:

Cha Cha 14% ABV

Imperial Stout conditioned on toasted coconut, raw coconut, desiccated coconut, toasted Cacao nibs, vanilla bean. Sweet, decadent, chocolate coconut macaroon.

Of Ancestry 14% ABV

We began a long fermentation with our monster imperial stout base, then condition it on fermented acorns, Madagascar vanilla bean, Ecuadorian cacao nibs.

Fox in the Valley 6% ABV

Classic English Bitter pub ale fermented with Imperial A38 lends a smooth, crisp finish with balanced bitterness and a pleasant spice from the addition of Spicebush berries. This super smooth ESB is served on Nitro.

Knowing A Ghost, 4.8% ABV

A Belgian-style Witbier brewed with elderflower, turmeric, ginger and coriander. Light body, with zesty citrus and floral notes, and a dry finish.

Ginger 3.7% ABV

delicate, light-bodied Belgian-style wheat Table beer, brewed with more than 60 lbs. of ginger per batch. Zesty, with a soft spice that’s perfect for cooler weather.

Well Made Hard Seltzer: Orange Crush 6% ABV

Sweet, zingy fresh squeezed orange juice with a zesty finish. Our hard seltzer take on the Ocean City Classic!

Stay Golden 9% ABV

This complex Belgian-style Golden Strong Ale is brewed with Pilsner, Vienna, Dark Munich, and CaraBeige malts. Lavender, Anise Hyssop and Spicebush add layers of flavor and spice. Smooth sipping and deceptively easy drinking!

Shiitake! 7% ABV

A deliciously complex Helles Bock brewed Vienna & Dark Munich. Balanced bitterness from Sterling and Mittlefruch hops. Notes of Almond blossom honey complements if Shiitake mushrooms grown by our friends at Darling Corey Farm.

Coalie Boy 5.8% ABV

Named after our beloved black Lab, Coal, this Brown Ale is conditioned on hickory nut, cacao nib and pecan, all toasted to bring out full flavor. Finished light at 5.8% Delicious!

Faux Fashion 11% ABV

Blended Barrel-Aged Ale. Belgian-style Dubbel aged in Reposado barrels, kveik Farmhouse aged in gin barrels, dark Saison aged in chardonnay barrels.

IDKSL 7.3% ABV

Black IPA brewed with debittered black malt and a touch of Special B. Roselle hibiscus. Aggressively hopped with Idaho #7, Idaho Gem, Mosaic and Rakau.

Alpha Carotene 7.2% ABV

Hazy IPA brewed with carrots, Citra, Cashmere and Vic Secret. Medium body, moderate bitterness, tangerine, pineapple, and earthy sweetness.

BeetBox 6.9% ABV

A modern IPA featuring Simcoe, Mosaic, Strata and Enigma hops. Moderate bitterness is balanced with earthy, sweet beet juice. Seriously good!

Level With Me: Mosaic 6.7% ABV

Our “Level” series revolves around copious amounts of oats in the grain bill, while North Star Pils and a dab of raw wheat provide a light canvas for irresponsible additions of Mosaic, Mosaic Cryo and Mosaic Incognito. Balanced out with a touch with El Dorado and Azacca.
