What’s as comfortable as eating at home? Eating in what was a home, with classic Southern hospitality! I’m not talking about some faux gran-maw’s home, either. Imagine a home that would be owned by your favorite young Southern professionals, with clean design, localvore food products, fantastic liquor collection. That’s what Table & Main in Roswell, Georgia (outside Atlanta) is all about! I was very happy to be hosted to experience it.
Outdoor seating is available on the porch and there’s a patio, too, for a different from traditional dining experience.
Regionally sourced produced is used in Southern recipes, but they’re elevated to an elegant — yet not precious — level. Greens aren’t cooked to death; rather, their crisp texture is allowed to shine along with big pieces of famed Benton’s bacon. Fried green tomatoes are lightly breaded, not sweaty. They’re presented with color-contrasting micro greens. Shrimp ‘n grits are flavored with Gouda, for a new twist on things.
Like the best of Southern hosts, they have an incredible bourbon selection. Of course, ordering a bourbon straight or on small bit of ice is classic, but they do have some artisan cocktails that they craft, too.
