Summer house scents from Demeter!

Are you going to stay at someone’s house this summer? Sometimes, it’s hard to know what to give as a house gift. Your hosts might not have your taste in booze or even drink it. You might be in a position where you have to do something extra impressive: maybe your parents’ friends or a work retreat or friend’s parents are hosting. It’s not too much a stretch of the imagination to state, they may be accustomed to the finest things. What’s something nice and also, appropriate, to bring? Or, how to fix up your own vacay spot in a lovely way for visitors? Demeter doesn’t just make groovy personal fragrances — they have all kinds of great products for the home! I was happy to be hosted to experience them.

Sweet Tea atmosphere diffuser would make a great gift for a Southern host or for you. I experienced cold black tea and lemon notes with a touch of sweetness, but not sugary. In case you are unfamiliar with this type of product, you open the bottle and leave it open, sticking in some bamboo sticks made for the purpose and flip them around when you remember. No bamboo sticks? I have used wooden take-out chopsticks successfully! This is elegant for a coffee table. This is what they say about it: “Unlike water or wine or even Coca-Cola, sweet tea means something. It is a tell, a tradition. Sweet tea isn’t a drink, really. It’s culture in a glass.”

Steam Room atmosphere diffuser has notes of sweet woods with a touch of menthol. Great for a bathroom! This is what they say about it: “There is nothing quite like a good steam bath. The Demeter version is an ozone fragrance, warm and enveloping, with a touch of eucalyptus to help open up those pores. A comforting and relaxing scent, like the steam bath itself.”

In the shower gel format, its clean, clear, subtly scented, low suds. It’s gentle. It helps with shaving and makes for a spa atmosphere.

Spring Break shower gel has notes of coconut tanning lotion with salty sand and sea plants. Lock in the ocean experience! This is what they say about it: “The ultimate virtual vacation fragrance, only from Demeter Fragrance Library Suntan lotion, the sand, the sea, the drinking games but in the case of this fragrance, mostly coconut scented suntan lotion.” I like how the bottles say, “Be yourself. Please yourself. Reveal everything. Reveal nothing. Inhale. Repeat. Relax. Imagine anything.”

Honey bath and body oil has a dropper application, with a light, spreadable consistency. The shower gel isn’t sugary; it’s more like dark Tupelo or Buckwheat and subtle. This is what they say about it: “Sex in a bottle. Sugary dripping nectar, the result of the love affair between blossoms and bees – but don’t mistake this for a sweet fragrance. Its nature is much bigger, and much more animalistic.”

The atmosphere candle comes in its own tin: convenient! You don’t have to hunt up a receptacle, no dicey glass. Chocolate Chip Cookie falls into one of those realtor tricks to make people fall in love with your home! I experienced notes of well-baked, well done, crisp cookies with a touch of brown sugar and chocolate. This is what they say about it: “Our wearable version of the Chocolate Chip Cookie is a combination of light and dark chocolate, freshly baked but not too doughy. The entire flavor, none of the calories!” Between the Sheets is tangy and juicy, like being at a tiki bar. Use this candle out on a deck or in a bedroom. This is what they say about it: “The name says it all! An exotic and alluring blend of mango, guava, passion fruit, orange liquor, lemon juice and rum, irresistible to anyone who experiences it.”

So, maybe you want your guests to use hand sanitizer. They might use it or not. But with a luxe scent like Champagne Brut, they won’t feel like you’re shoving antiseptic on them. I experienced sweet notes, grapes. It’ll make you smile! It’s a spray-on, so not goopy.

Saltwater Taffy atmosphere diffuser has a sweet, rich vanilla fudge scent with a big hit of salt. Put this in a utility room, bathroom or kitchen: it’s sweet and savory. This is what they say about it: “Saltwater taffy is composed of sugar, cornstarch, corn syrup, glycerin, water, butter, salt, food coloring and various flavors, natural and synthetic. Contrary to popular belief, the taffy contains no salt water (seawater). It does, however, contain both salt and water, and thus the name as well as the distinct taste and smell. Demeter’s Saltwater Taffy, with hints of vanilla and caramel, captures that salty sweetness perfectly.”

Linen atmosphere diffuser has notes of powder, laundry soap, floral. Put it in your linen closet, of course! This is what they say about it: “Demeter’s Linen is exactly what you expect – clean, crisp, sheer, transparent, and oh, so lovely. Think of the best crisp, linen sheets you ever experienced on a warm summer’s eve. That is the experience we sought to capture here.”

Orange Blossom atmosphere diffuser is zippier and crisper than orange blossom cooking water. It’s floral, plus a lot of green and spice. Orange blossom has an ancient history of being used for romance, easing depression. Try it in a dressing room or bedroom. This is what they say about it: “Our version of Orange Blossom is full, lush and exquisite, more like the living flower on a warm summer eve’s, gentle breeze. Extracted from the white flowers of the Orange Tree, and a traditional element used in perfume making, this is one of the most popular flowers in perfumery.”
