Mom will be coming up roses for Mother’s Day with Demeter Fragrance!

How about getting Mom something other than the tried and true for Mother’s Day? Demeter Fragrance has been known for its out-of-the-box but sterling quality fragrances for years. Plus, for the holiday, there are special gift sets that are bound to pique her curiosity and appreciation. I was happy to be hosted to experience it!

Limited Edition Mother’s Day Signature (set):

Jasmine – Very, very lush. I think of it as a rich, buttery and exotic floral. It you like fresh lilacs, this is in the same neighborhood, but more sensual. I learned at Flowerhut.com.sg that this flower is a member of the olive family, so that accounts for the richness. It originated in ancient Persia, which is now Iran. The finest variety – the one that Demeter uses – now comes from Grasse, France. The flower symbolizes all kinds of romance.

Salt Air – This is a fresh, rather green scent. It has ocean and aqua notes, along with plant life. If Mom is on the sporty side or is just looking for a refreshing fragrance for summer, she’ll be pleased by this unusual, non-cookie cutter scent. It marries with skin well.

Baby Powder – It smells even better than commercial baby powder and your Mom will know it! It has that smooth, silky, sweet floral-powder mix. Very feminine! On the Demeter site, I learned that Johnson & Johnson created the iconic product in the 1890s with Italian talc. Molto Bellisima

Mother’s Day Sexy Trio:

Hawaiian Vanilla – How is this different from other vanillas? To my nose, it’s fresher and greener, less gourmand. This adds a level of sophistication to the fragrance. This is how they describe it: “Cultivated on the Hamakua Coast on Big Island of Hawaii this unique orchid grows in the wealthiest soil on earth. Hawaiian heat, sweet rains and mild breezes transform Hawaiian Vanilla blossoms into the richest most aromatic vanilla beans in the world. Demeter’s Hawaiian Vanilla is rich in the aromatic scent of the vanilla bean. Warm and wonderful…without it, life would just be ‘plain vanilla’”.

Amber – Is a warmer, cooked cream + woody + a touch of spice, almost gourmand scent, but still feminine. It’s wood aspects are light, not sharp. This is how they describe it: “Since antiquity, amber, has been a valued perfume ingredient. Labeled an aphrodisiac with mystical powers, this warm, rich, honey-like, scent is gently dusted with earth and sensual oriental hints. Clean and aromatic it evokes the subtle, spicy warmth of twilight.”

Musk #7 – I notice some of the warmth of traditional musk, but a lot more brighter, sparkling and light notes. Not sharp, but more like a light champagne. The dry down has some light, bright woody notes. This is how they describe it: “Bergamot and lemon peel, with fresh herbs, amber and patchouli form the attitude of this fragrance, the first of our Musk’s to be declared commercial grade. White Musk # 7 is A fresh and delicate blend that speaks in whispers.”

Dark Flowers – Four Humongous Miniatures

First, about the size: They really are of a useful proportion. Have you ever struggled with what to do, fragrance-wise, when you have that 10 day to 2 week vacay? These bottles are perfect.

Dark Roses – Intensely rose and juicy. A touch of spice in the dry down. It’s a floral that has more notes than a single-note flower scent. Here’s what they say about it: “Rose Water Tea, Thorny Stem Bulgarian Rose Petals and Davana Blossom are topped with Red Currants and anchored by an earthy Patchouli, Dark Amber and Haitian Vetiver: a deep, dark swirl unlike anything else you have experienced in a Rose-inspired scent.”

Witching Hour – This is a fragrance that’s harder to pin down, it’s intriguing. I get spicy floral and bright citrus, but with a deeper, richer dry down. This is what they say about it: “Deep and sensual, without being at all too dark, this fragrance uses exotic ingredients-two kinds of Amber, Blood Orange and Vanilla Orchid petals-to make this blend unique, in the way only Demeter can.”

Vampire Blooms – This is a soft, sweet fragrance. I get sweet lilac and dark chocolate. Here’s how they describe it: “Poisonous Belladonna, Dracula Orchid and the Nicotiana plant form the deep, dark heart of this fragrance, rounded with peppery Maile Leaves and Ivy, smoothed and coordinated by a sheer veil of Madagascar Vanilla, White Musk and Mandarin Peel.”

Transfixed – I pick up lush, Southern florals and vanilla. It’s a feminine, glamorous fragrance. This is what they say about it: “The sexy center of this fragrance revolves around Ylang Ylang and Red Poppies, grounded with Tobacco Leaves and Black Vanilla Bean, while taking flights of fancy with a frosty medicinal accord and powdery Coca Petals.”

The humongous samples and really, all of the Demeter fragrances can be easily opened, allowing access for the Foolproof Blending Tool Kit. It includes a 1 oz. bottle with a label that they advise you mark with a permanent marker, a funnel, six droppers and blending strips. A creative mom will be enchanted! So, one time, I made my own perfume in the Bahamas. What I suggest is build your fragrance slowly, using the blending strips to check the progress. Then, you can better judge what notes you need to add for the perfect personal scent!
