Spring renewal for your skin with Drunk Elephant

It went from winter to practically summer in about a week, didn’t it? Your skin doesn’t know whether to be dry and crinkly or healing from heat-induced breakouts. Frustrating, right? Now there are some new products from Drunk Elephant to save the season! I was happy to be hosted to experience them.

Bouncy Brightfacial Masque Illuminator has a point of difference in that it tackles two opposite problems: redness and lack of brightness. It accomplishes this with with 10% azelaic and 1% salicylic acids. It’s meant to be the very last step in either a day or nighttime skin routine, though — like other Drunk Elephant products — it’s meant to also be mixed with any serum or moisturizer. While very few things work overnight, I did notice that my red marks did subside in about three days, which is great during the time of year when you don’t want to wear so much makeup. It pumps out in a rich lotion consistency.

A-Shaba Complex Eye Serum is a different form of product than you may be used to — high absorption serum, opposed to heavy moisturizer, although, you can always use both. It has 0.1% vegan retinol, 3% caffeine to address wrinkles and puffiness. It’s a medium to rich lotion consistency and they suggest keeping it in the fridge for a spa-like treat. It’s certainly comforting and doesn’t interfere with makeup application.

Have you had certain dry spots that resist even the creamiest creams? You need new Wonderwild Miracle Butter! They call this a salve — it’s an ointment consistency product made from nutritious plant butters. They suggest windburned cheeks, dry elbows, cracked heels or chapped lips. Yes. Also, I apply it overnight to the rapidly deteriorating laugh lines, cracked cuticles and yucky, dry tops of hands. Keep this in your 911 bag of tricks! It has all the rich butters, like coconut, avocado, jojoba.

It’s happy news — but shouldn’t be surprising with a modern, conscious company as Drunk Elephant — that they now have refills for some of their products! Protini Polypeptide Cream is a cream-gel consistency and more of a heavy lifter, though not goopy. It adds protein to thin skin — so common in winter — that is aged. Amino acids and growth factors help. I think it’s brilliant for crepey necks. It has a touch pop-up applicator.
