Dutch artist Ellis Faas brings luxurious color for eyes this fall, winter: new Ellis Lights

Ellis Faas is an Amsterdam born and based artist, photographer, makeup artist and creator of her eponymous makeup line. I first spied her products in an in-flight shopping magazine while flying First Class on KLM. I craved them the way others crave snack foods or diamonds! “Must have,” I thought.

Her first explosion into fame came from designing makeup for Karl Lagerfeld’s shows for Chanel and Fendi. The rest is history! I was very happy to be hosted to experience it.

Ellis’ signature products incorporate her artistry right in the packaging: long, pointed metal bullet-shaped casings house color and built-in brush. You’ll apply product just like she does!

Three new shades for eyes — Lights — are sheer chrome colors with buildable coverage: a medium toned gold (neither extremely warm nor cool), aged bronze and a metallic charcoal. As the colors are very spreadable, just twist up a small drop to start with. Ellis suggests layering it over her Creamy Eyes colors for a mirrored finish. These colors work for all skin tones and are perfect for this season’s textured clothes.

Since the inception of her brand, Ellis has done regular Make Up Not War campaigns to raise money and awareness for War Child, a charity benefiting the more than 250 million (!) children living in an area of conflict. On her site are t-shirts and lip color for sale to help out this important project.
