Whether you’re traveling within the US this spring or abroad, you certainly want to have an up-to-date makeup look. I was just reading where my newest guilty pleasure, the tv show The Royals, is influencing how we look. It’s kind of a fantasy show that imagines the British royal family if Diana had lived. Banished from this season – just like the Queen and Princess Royal’s clothes — are wimpy pastels. It’s just as well. The first day of spring where I live ushered in a nasty snow storm. Pastels would have looked silly. Instead, deep jewel tones are what you want on your journeys.
Smashbox was founded by descendants of film cosmetic innovator Max Factor. I was happy to be hosted to experience it!
Their Be Legendary Lip Gloss line comes with a flexible doe-foot applicator — a great improvement from standard applicators. It has a pigment-rich, medium thick, shiny formulation. Gingerly is a particular universal shade, with coral, brown and rose undertones. Almost any skin tone – except maybe, those with white-white-pink skin — could wear it with any outfit. But this isn’t a line limited to safe, work colors! Vivid Violet – a deep purple-plum — as well as Black Tied — a sheer gray-black with multi-colored micro-glitter — let you push the envelope.
Really, it feels good to wear a more subversive shade sometimes. Break out of the mold! Just today, my mom was suggesting I “be sweet”. I laughed and stated (several times), “It’s just not in my nature!” I think you’re in trouble if everyone finds you too predictable. Let them wonder! A little black lip gloss with a black turtleneck, violet with a boyfriend’s charcoal t-shirt . . . suddenly, you’re in the game!
