After several trips to Europe within the past year, one thing has been made very clear to me: you’re all on your own when it comes to your luggage and nobody makes it easy. Even at the fanciest places, there aren’t any bellhops or what other countries call “porters”. The Europeans seems to take some sort of athletic pride in carrying their own bags! The other part: no ramps. I’ve even been to American-owned hotels that have steps going up into the lobby (shame on them).
On a recent trip to Sweden, I knew that I wanted to take a suitcase that had a thinner width, but still was very functional and could hold everything I needed it to. Generally on a trip, I need a separate section for dirty laundry and a protective section for breakables. eBags to the rescue again! I was very happy to be hosted to experience it.
The Mother Lode TLS Mini 21″ Wheeled Duffel has all the bells and whistles of the larger sizes: section divider, parachute-style clips, the ability to roll up the inner pocket for more room, a double-telescoping handle, great wheels and more.
When going to Europe, I often have to take the Bolt Bus up to New York or New Jersey. There’s not a lot of room underneath the bus for luggage, so the mini duffel works as a last-minute standup piece — great to be able to grab first thing! The luggage has fiberglass rods that you insert to give it stability. Though I hate any do-it-yourself project with a passion, this wasn’t overly awful. I was able to do it all by myself.
This item is available in several bright colors, so your luggage really stands out amongst the others. Also, this particular size fits in all overhead bins — except maybe puddle jumpers.
Because the luggage is well-designed, you’ll be able to lift it over steps and through airports all over Europe.
