In the days before haircuts, styling products, ready fresh water and shampoo, how did our pioneer ancestors get beautiful tresses? They rinsed with apple cider vinegar! But nowadays, we know that vinegar must be used in the correct proportions and tempered with moisturizers. But its time-honored magic lives on! Pureology has harnessed this classic goodness in their new product, Vinegar Hair Rinse. I was happy to be hosted to experience it!
This naturally based product removes product buildup, mineral deposits and natural debris. It helps clear up soap/shampoo film. The rinse only has a mild vinegar fragrance and doesn’t irritate your scalp — the way pouring on straight vinegar can.
You can use it in one of three ways: apply it before you shampoo and leave on for 2-3 minutes before rinsing, after you shampoo and before conditioning (leaving on for the same period) or applying after conditioning and rinsing before applying styling products. I personally really like the 2’d method — before conditioning. It also me to get the detangling benefits of my conditioner, but the extra cleansing effects. I didn’t change any of my other products. After styling, I had temporarily forgotten that I was trying the product. I actually looked in the mirror, thinking, “Wow! What’s with my hair! I look like all the ‘other people’ (the shiny haired folks)!” That dullness of winter hair, swimming, heavy styling products all disappeared.
Additional ingredients, like cactus pear flower extract, have omega fatty acids, Vitamin E and antioxidants — thus, contributing to the health and strength of the hair.
If you’re old enough — or young enough — to have tie-dyed your own clothes, you know that a vinegar bath helps fix the color. Same with hair coloring! This product is good for you. They say to use it 1-2 times a week.
