Dr. Paw Paw is a British family-owned brand. The natural formula was made to be a multi-tasking balm to ease eczema, incorporating PAWPAW (Papaya Fruit), Castor Oil, Aloe Vera and Olive Oil. These are soothing ingredients, you’d better believe. I’ve had relatives with severe eczema and it can be, sorry to say, gross. They have a new product for lips that is must-carry for your purse or backpack: Scrub & Nourish in a stack of colors. This particular offering is only available at Ulta. I was happy to be hosted to experience it!
This stack comes in 2 varieties. Each has a lip scrub and 2 tints.
You’ve probably heard about how drinking lots of water is good for you, including your lips. And that’s true! But I learned as a judge of the International Water Tasting Festival, lots of water can actually give you a dehydrated feeling, because it strips out saliva and natural oils. Incongruous, I know!
So, I’m on a real water kick for health and have very dry lips. With most other lip scrubs on the planet, I’d have to wait before applying them. But Dr. PAWPAW’s lip scrub is so very rich with just a teeny bit of natural sugar. Here’s where some chemical knowledge comes in handy: both sugar and papaya have natural, gentle acids that will work with the physical exfoliant of sugar to get rid of dead skin. When I was a kid, the French used the term, gommage, which is “eraser”. Erase that dead skin! It has natural vanilla and strawberry flavors.
The 2 colors in Vanillaberry are clear and a subtle, sheer rosy coral. Anyone can wear this, it just gives you your lips, but way better. If you’re a lip balm aficionado like I am, a great natural look is hard to find! It’s the “I wake up this way, I don’t have to try as hard as you do” look.
The Tinted style has a more opaque, deeper apricot-coral color, along with a very sheer deep, deep blue-red. I’d say this stack is perfect for work, because they always say you need a little color on your lips to have an authoritative look. I was a litigation attorney for many years and this would be perfect for that: if I’m doing a lot of talking and needed to make sure my look stayed in place, I’d pick either of those colors. I’d also say that this would be a good product to use if you’re going to be kissing a bunch of people, like at a wedding: you won’t want goopy liners and gloss sliding around and getting all over everyone else.
