When it comes to healthy eating books, I think people want to hear a lot more compassion, a lot more sensible advice from someone who is walking the walk. A few decades ago, I remember following the advice of a diet guru who advocated filling up on slice upon slice of unbuttered bread (!), who own personal life turned out to be somewhat of a hot mess.
In this Google-era of information, we like to know not only what we’re eating, but why we’re eating it. Then, we can make choices in what changes we may need to make. That’s the point of difference with the new book, The Beauty Detox Power: Nourish Your Mind and Body for Weight Loss and Discover True Joy by Kimberly Snyder. I was happy to be hosted to experience it!
The book is chock full of individual anecdotes about Snyder’s clients and even herself.
Not only is there advice about particular food cravings, but there’s also thorough Ayurvedic type advice involving the chakras and what foods, herbs to eat to correct imbalances.
It’s not just a food guide, but a lifestyle guide, delving into relationships, energy and other matters. People have been writing for years about lifestyle changes, but never really touched on what that would mean on a micro level . . . this is where the book differs. The volume closes with over 60 targeted recipes.
