Ask your favorite restaurant where it gets its produce. From the standpoint of lusciousness, they should be getting it from local suppliers like Papa John’s Farm in Severn, MD. The Schillinger family, which has owned the farm for 4 generations, has won the top agricultural awards in Maryland.
Their produce is so good, you can even eat their freshly picked corn on the cob raw! (Which I did…) You just can’t match this quality from most supermarkets. I learned that the markets only pick up produce at certain times and require it to be chilled down to a certain temperature. That changes flavors. For non-machine-tampered produce, restauranteurs should be going straight to the farm.
