I’m going to let you in on a little discovery that will change your mornings forever, when you get yourself to Rhinebeck, NY. It would change my life forever, in that I’d have to start a marathon walk program or something, to help with the effects of an addictive treat!
In tony Rhinebeck — where Chelsea Clinton got married — they have one of a handful of locations for the Hudson Valley fave, Bread Alone. It’s very popular in the mornings, so be sure and add some time if you are in a commuter rush. Bread Alone sells their wares at the Rhinebeck Cafe’, among other places, like local farmer’s markets. They have a dining room that serves breakfast until 2 pm. You’ll find breads and muffins incorporating local ingredients like raspberries and zucchini.
I don’t know if you like sweets for breakfast — or, just save it for a few hours — but their Fruit-Nut Tart is decadent! You might think it would taste like trail mix, but that’s where you’d be wrong. It’s a buttery, caramely confection with pistachios, sunflower seeds, cranberries, almonds and caramel glaze with a buttery crust.
